Preparing a bowl of matcha.
禅の概念
The story of a desk garden that grew into a Sydney tea house.
The Zen Concept 禅の概念 began during the COVID lockdowns, when home became workplace, social space, and entire world. We started with one simple creation: a Mini Zen Garden for the desk.
A little sand. A tiny rake. A few stones.
Preparing a bowl of matcha.
Running your fingers across something handmade.
Wrapping a gift with care.
Sitting on tatami with a warm cup of tea.
Taking five minutes away from the noise.
Zen is not about doing nothing. It is about being present with what you are doing.
When Sydney began opening again, we brought those little moments of calm beyond the screen, and met our community face to face.

Beauty does not always come from perfection. Often it comes from care, patience, material and human touch.
The texture of a handmade tea bowl.
The irregularity left by the maker's hands.
The thought behind a piece of wrapping cloth.
The beauty of an object designed to become better through everyday use.
縁 (えん / En) is the connection that brings people together: sometimes intentionally, sometimes unexpectedly, and sometimes at exactly the right moment.
A customer becomes a friend.
An artist walks into our space and becomes a collaborator.
One maker introduces us to another.
A conversation over tea becomes a new idea.
A small pop-up leads somewhere we never planned to go.
People wanted to touch, taste, learn and participate. Workshops became another way to slow down and make something with our own hands.
In 2026 we were invited as a Matcha Cultural Ambassador. A desk garden found its way onto one of Australia's largest stages of Japanese culture. The journey continues toward 2027.

JINOKI 地の氣
Soil, water, seasons and human hands, before tea ever reaches the cup.
Through JINOKI we share Japanese tea and matcha as small rituals of connection: to nature, to another person, and to ourselves.
Warm the bowl.
Notice the aroma.
Whisk the matcha.
Hold the cup.
Take a sip.
For a brief moment, there is nowhere else you need to be.
Zen, craft, connection.
Made Mindfully. Share Harmoniously.
