Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) - The most well-known Japanese painter in the world.
Ukiyoe artist active in the late Edo period. Born in Sumida-ku, Tokyo, he loved painting from an early age and taught himself woodblock engraving and other painting-related techniques. During his lifetime, he produced more than 30,000 works.
