The Ikigai Journey - Finding Happiness & Purpose in Japanese Ways
Seeking a roadmap to a more fulfilling life?
"The Ikigai Journey" by Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles is an invaluable companion. Building upon the principles of their bestselling book, "Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life," this guide offers practical exercises to uncover your own ikigai – that sweet spot where passion, mission, vocation, and profession intersect, bringing profound meaning and joy to daily life. Through gentle encouragement and actionable steps, Garcia and Miralles empower readers to embrace new habits and step outside their comfort zones, nurturing a balanced and purposeful existence.
One of the book's most empowering messages is that ikigai is not a fixed destination but a dynamic journey that evolves with us over time. Divided into three insightful sections, "The Ikigai Journey" becomes a trusted companion in navigating life's inevitable changes, helping readers understand their past to shape a brighter future and fully savour the present moment. By embracing the fluidity of ikigai and embracing personal growth at every stage of life, this book inspires individuals to embark on a transformative path towards lasting fulfilment and inner contentment.
- Section 1: Journey Through the Future: Tokyo (a symbol of modernity and innovation)
- Section 2: Journey Through the Past: Kyoto (an ancient capital moored in tradition)
- Section 3: Journey Through the Present: Ise (an ancient shrine that is destroyed and rebuilt every twenty years)
Japan has one of the longest life spans in the world, and the greatest number of centenarians—many of whom cite their strong sense of ikigai as the basis for their happiness and longevity. Unlike many "self-care" practices, which require setting aside time in an increasingly busy world, the ikigai method helps you find peace and fulfillment in your busy life.
